TAKE IT LIKE A MAN

For this collection, my starting point for my inspiration is the 1970s “Clone Look”, which was born as a contrast to the disco, peacock look. Gay men took traditional masculinity and queered the hell out of it. Though dangerous and secretive, this new look allowed gay men
to find each other. The connecting tissue between all gay tribes and subcultures, is that we are expressing our sexual preference in the way we dress: “what we put out there
is what we fancy.”

Collaborating with Knitup, I created HUG+ as an extension of my collection.

I want to express the concept of HUG+/HIV+, radiating positive vibes and a warm embrace, while using the collection as a vessel to continue breaking the stigma surrounding HIV.
